Men's Hackman Selvedge Jean (Raw)

£99.00
Slim fit jean in 14oz red line selvedge from Cone Denim Mills.

Description

The Hackman Selvedge Jean is crafted from a bespoke 14oz red line selvedge made especially for us by Cone Denim Mills, with selvedge seam finishing that's visible when the cuffs are rolled.

By partnering with Oritain - this denim is the first to use forensic science to verify the origins of its cotton.

The slow woven raw (unwashed) denim is comfortable straight out of the gate, with little break-in time. It's hard-wearing yet light enough for every day, meaning these jeans will soften and mould to your body shape, developing a fade and patina unique to you.

The slim fit is comfortable from waist to hip, then gently tapered from the knee to hem. It looks as good with work boots as it does with trainers... a true all-rounder.

With all the traditional details you'd expect, The Hackman Selvedge Jean embodies our dedication to quality and not doing anything in a hurry.

A True Original

Formed in 1891 by brothers Moses and Ceasar Cone, The Cone Mills Company know all there is to know about denim.

From the crafting of authentic vintage weaves to the development of new and innovative recycling technologies, Cone Denim continues to master the art and science of sustainable denim, creating some of the most sought after denims in the world.

Jeaneology

By partnering with traceability experts Oritain, this denim by Cone Mills is the first to use forensic science to verify the origins of its cotton – giving our jeans the highest level of transparency possible.

Not all cotton is produced ethically; some is grown using forced labour and is banned from import into most manufacturing countries.Despite these restrictions, such cotton often still enters the supply chain, typically blended with other fibres to conceal its origin.Oritain uses forensic science to ensure that our selvedge denim contains none of these banned materials. Their advanced analytical techniques can trace fibres back to the exact farm they came from.

What is Selvedge?

Selvedge denim is woven on a traditional shuttle loom that weaves with a continuous left to right weft yarn (the horizontal yarn), giving the denim self-finished edges. Which is how the denim became known as ‘self-edge’ or ‘selvedge’.

Those old shuttle looms sedately rattle out just three metres of fabric per hour (around 10 times slower than modern mass-production machines).

The clunky, slow and steady rhythm produces a low tension weave and a denim with lots of character. They also give these jeans that trademark stripe on the outer edge seam and the unique, high contrast wear patterns we love so much.
