Colours of Wales Mug
Stoneware mugs from local ceramicist Alanda Gunn-Wilson available in a range of beautiful glazes with a 300ml capacity.
These 6 glazes were all inspired by the incredible year round colours that surround us in Wales. These are individually hand thrown, turned, glazed and fired in Alanda's studio in West Wales. By combining traditional techniques with a modern perspective she brings history and nature into the contemporary home.
Specification
Ash Blue Mug:
I have made this new glossy blue using wood ash from our fireplace, the remains of the ash trees that heat our home. It’s been hard to watch beautiful trees fall around the valley, so I decided to create an “Ode to the Ash”. The result was this gloriously glossy blue glaze.
Lichen Green Mug:
This glaze is inspired by the abundance of lichen on the hillsides of Wales.
Welsh Sky Light Blue Mug:
This glaze is inspired by the particular blue of the sky when it is filtered through thin clouds on a winters day.
Thunder Grey Mug:
This glaze is inspired by the rich intensity of the Welsh thunder clouds.
Sea Foam White Mug:
This glaze is inspired by the bubbling sea foam when a wave breaks.
Sea Stone Glossy Green:
This glassy glaze is inspired by the stones and pebbles at the bottom of rock pools or lying along the seashore.
34 degrees Glossy Light Blue/Green:
This glassy glaze is inspired by the incredible colour of the sea on a rare but beautiful 34 degrees hot summers day!
