What is it?
Sorona® is a durable performance fibre made from plant extracts.
How does it work?
Sorona® reduces our reliance on fossil-based materials. It uses plant glucose from renewable corn starch crops to make a durable plant-based polymer; a cleaner alternative to conventional man-made plastics like nylon or polyester.
Sorona® keeps its shape when you're active. It stretches, it bends and keeps coming back for more. It's the perfect eco-conscious substitute for spandex or elastane for all active clothing.
Sorona® uses 40% less energy and reduces greenhouse gas emissions by 56% during production (compared to nylon). When we had the bright idea of mixing it with Merino, we found it made it stretchier and stronger without having to compromise our Merino wool’s natural appeal.
What’s it good for?
Thanks to its warmth, breathability and sweat-wicking properties, Sorona® is great for sport. And because it's crease and wrinkle-resistant, it stays looking straight out of your suitcase or wardrobe, so it's great for travel or everyday. Sorona® is also extremely durable; so much so it is often used to make carpets for cars.
